We at Phineas are very happy to announce that we will be partnering up with the wonderful RIPPLE Africa.

This is to fulfil our ambition of planting a tree for every carton of hangers sold.

RIPPLE Africa work to improve the environment, health care and local education in Malawi, Africa.

Their aim and mission is to empower local people to manage sustainable projects around rural villages.

The tree planting project is the largest within the Nkhata Bay District of Malawi, where an area of forest the size of a football pitch is cut down every ten minutes.

RIPPLE Africa have been helping to fight deforestation since 2006. Since then the charity has aided 175 community groups to plant over 5 million trees.

Deforestation in Africa is one of the greatest issues facing Malawians today. The effects of deforestation are tangible: less rain, hotter climates, soil erosion, and drought brings famine, poverty, and starvation.

RIPPLE Africa

Their projects not only target deforestation but aim to save the forested hills. These of which are primarily responsible for the regulation of rainfall within the district.

A large part of the population in Malawi gain their income from farming, which means that rainfall and climate stability are not just issues for environmentalists but also for the local people.

RIPPLE Africa aid local communities to lessen the demand on Malawi’s existing indigenous forests by educating individuals, local schools and communities on their natural environment.

The hope being to slowly change the outlook surrounding natural resources.

Planting fast growing exotic trees such as Cassia trees, benefits local communities.

These trees provide a sustainable source of timber which help protect existing native trees and assist in the restoration of the land and soil as they’re nitrogen-fixing trees.

We want to give back, so we’re really thrilled to be a part of this incredible cause.

Our donations to RIPPLE Africa will grow as we continue to grow as a business.
